Melinda Roberts

is a native Chicagoan transplanted to the Silicon Valley, where she lives with her three California-born children. Through a series of well-laid plans, strategic decisions, spectacular setbacks, and unfortunate mistakes, she has cobbled together a cozy life for her young family.

Mindy spent the last twelve years as a mild-mannered non-profit employee, managing a department and ensuring compliance on contracts. In 2002, after the birth of her third child in four years, she began to write about her life and children in the sleepless hours in an effort to capture her young family’s world in real time. Mommy Confidential: Adventures From the Wonderbelly of Motherhood is Mindy’s first off-line book and a chronicle of her family’s adventures and mishaps through a chaotic period of marital, emotional, and financial strife.

Witty, sarcastic, and always engaging, she tackles the good and the bad with a broad stroke and a sense of humor that give her writing depth and an emotional pull. Besides her obvious, tender love for her children, The Mommy Blog is a place where Mindy reveals some of her fears and disappointments, and talks about her hopes for the future. Readers have laughed and cried along with her, finding inspiration in Mindy’s tales. Known for its wide-ranging vocabulary and sharp insight into matters both personal and global, The Mommy Blog is a showcase for Mindy’s unique spin. She’s quick to highlight other bloggers. With her poise (we assume from her modeling background) and her inner strength (from her tomboyish childhood in Chicago, perhaps), Mindy is a staunch ally and is also a regular contributor to DotMoms.

DotMoms is a weblog that features smart, fun, and focused writing about motherhood from many perspectives. The DotMoms are good writers with something to say about life on the home front. What distinguishes us is not only our subject matter and format, but also our tone—light-hearted and laser sharp—and our focus: zoomed in on what it’s like to belong to a family, as mothers, wives, daughters-in-law, daughters, sisters and more.” DotMoms was chosen as one of Time.com’s 50 coolest websites (blogs) and listed in Forbes Best of the Web.

From Beth Feldman of Role Mommies:

Meet one of the most influential moms on the internet… Mindy rode out the rise and fall of the Silicon Valley high-tech industry, recently ended a 12 year marriage and is now on the lookout for a new job — the perfect combination for a book, TV or movie treatment!

The Mommy Blog has become so popular, attracting nearly 20,000 visitors per month, that magazines from Redbook to Parenting have picked it as one of their favorite destinations to visit on the web.

Corporate America has even taken notice of The Mommy Blog to attract female consumers. Mindy has also been called upon to consult with Fortune 500 companies, offering her insights on what moms want most out of the products they buy.
